We all strive for it: the perfection. It's everywhere- on television, in magazines, at stores. My type A personality rarely lets me settle for anything less than the best. This type of personality often leaves me feeling a sense of discouragement especially when something as important as a major celebration or holiday is impending. This is the story of finding perfection in the imperfections and learning to rejoice in the hope that it can always get better:
Pre-December
I knew Christmas was going to be a big celebration this month. We always go all out during Christmas: decorations, big meals, gifts... but this year would be different. Whatever we did this year would set the traditions that we would carry on for the REST OF OUR PARENTAL LIVES. Big deal, right? RIGHT. The "pinterest" world that we live in makes everything I do seem less than at par. Clearly there are moms and wives carrying out their duties much more artistically and gracefully than me. There are moms who have time to work, care for children, and cook multi-course meals each night in their brilliantly decorated homes. I have not achieved this greatness yet- believe me, I'm trying.
I will thank pinterest, though, for helping me begin the tradition of an advent calendar. I knew this countdown would be needed after the night we began to get out Christmas decorations and LB continuously looked for Santa. Poor guy, we have many, MANY days before the big guy arrives. So I got crafty and created this:
December came and went so quickly. As much as we tried to slow down and enjoy each and every little experience with our favorite little man- the holidays always rush by! Now our prayers is that we have the opportunity to carry these traditions on for many years to come.
