{Parenthood}
Let me start by saying that growing up I thought Foster's in Blue Springs (by St. John's Catholic Church) was a place that you could go get parentless children. Needless to say it's a laundromat- which better explains the clothing rack icon!
However, many years have passed since I thought about those poor kiddos that lived, abandoned, in the laundromat and I am writing this entry to explain our recent decision to enter into foster parenthood.
If you would have asked me 10 years ago, I would have told you that I would have a husband and many, MANY kids by the time I was 30. Now, with 30 not seeming so far away, I have my amazingly handsome husband but no children (except for Rory). Tyler and I have spent the last 9 years- since high school- working and learning. Between the two of us we have 5 degrees and several years in the classroom under our belts. We love our jobs- a LOT. We love the kids that we teach and each year we seem to take on more and more job responsibilities outside of the classroom. However, teaching has given us a perspective on the importance of family support in the development and education of little minds- academically and emotionally.
Because I know many of you are wondering---we are not entering into foster parenthood because we can't have children biologically. We both want to have children- biologically or otherwise. Foster parenting is a step in the direction we want to go and we know that we have the resources, experience, and knowledge to help children who need a safe and loving place to be. We don't know where our path is taking us, but we know that we are surrounded by an amazing support system and are excited to go through this together!
