Whole30 Update and Social Media Recommendations
Update my on my #whole30 journey:
Ahh! These past few weeks have been CRAZY. We have been camping a LOT. Which is amazing and wonderful and so hard to do while on program. It's not necessarily about having food that isn't compliant- but it's about the amount of food. It is so easy to mindlessly snack and eat while hanging out at the campground, hiking, and relaxing. So needless to say I am feeling kind of blah. I gave myself a little too much food freedom last weekend, but I started a solid 30 day restart on Tuesday. But I am going to be totally vulnerable right now and say that I for real ate Cinnamon Toast Crunch by the handful when I got home on Monday. I guess I can consider that muscle confusion?! Nevertheless- I am back at it.
But really, I hope this serves as a reminder that this is not easy. Yes I post pictures of yummy food on Facebook and Instagram. Yes I have had a lot of success since starting in February. But it is NOT that simple. Last night I had to admit to my dear husband that I am not in it to win it right now. I am struggling with meal planning and prepping. It's hard for me to admit that I need help, but that's just what I did last night. So we sat down together and picked out a few new menu items to try this week.
This weeks meals include:
Orange Chicken and Cauliflower Rice (also happy, happy news- I found frozen cauliflower rice at Price Chopper!)
Grilled Chicken Thighs, Crispy Smashed Potatoes, and BBQ Ranch Zucchini "Pasta" Salad
Beef and Broccoli
These last few days were a reminder that it is okay to vulnerable and ask for help. It's a blessing that we are doing this as a family. If you are doing this journey alone because either a) you are single or b) you are part of a family that doesn't need/want Whole30...please use our meal plans and recipe links as a resource. Ask questions. Join support groups.
Speaking of which- here are the Facebook groups and Instagram accounts I recommend you follow if you are attempting a healthy food takeover:
Facebook:
The Easy Kitch Tribe- This is by far my favorite- it's not just Whole30. It is a healthy lifestyle site with workouts, recipes, and a safe place to ask questions and get advice. Plus it's only open to women!
